Straight after that, i saw an ad for a dry cleaning place which you can see properly below. Made me LARF.
Today, after coming home from a failed trip to the beach (which i'll explain later), we were all stopped in our tracks in the passageway by seeing what we thought was a GIANT tropical cockroach. I personally hid in the bathroom, and was later told that it was just a cricket. Sure... That thing was mahoosive!
Anyway, my mum took it not only outside the front door, but also outside the iron security gates of the villa. She then LOCKED THE GATE 'to make sure it couldnt get back in'.
It's a cricket. Not a black person.
Marcel found a little birdy trapped inside today and wrapped it up into a dishcloth and set it outside which i thought was slightly amazing and super cute. It was tweeting and not struggling at all. Was so surreal!
I managed to actually use the gym room yesterday (and today) and supposedly burned 100 calories n the treadmill which i immedately used up in Oreo form and also had to have a nap. There's no words for how grim i felt exercising in the midday heat (and at all). I'm doing 0.5 kilometres more every day. I'm currently on 1.5k, and feeling pretty dead. SO glad that i didnt agree to do that 10k run.
Right through the door of the gym room is a giant balcony from which you can see some of the island. This morning the view was of three cats doing the dirty mambo :-s but it's still a view nonetheless.
We had to go to literally four different banks today to try to get our travellers cheques changed up. They were all quite big banks, but the first two refused point blank to change them, and the second two would only change 200 dollars and then 500 dollars. SO frustrating. My mum was definately not a happy chappy. We never actually made it to the beach (again), but my mum, knowing me, placated me with KFC. I realised that i'm every parents dream. Bit of takeaway and i'm super happy.
We also saw an old skool school bus today which i got a bit too happy about. Oddly, though... no kids. Reminded me of the creepy criminal minds episode with jane and her scary serial killer admirer... I'm actually quite annoyed that things in real life remind me of criminal minds. Not the way you want to be living a non-insane life.
One of the upsides to trekking around was the view from the car park (if only walthamstow car parks had palm trees).
And guys sitting on rickety boats with their 'wares'.
Since the plan today was initially to go to the beach, i wore my black and white kaftan today (not sure why i'm telling you but... deal with it.
Pip took some photos in the car of us, and actually said 'oh sorry von. i forgot to be serious'. It resulted in the teethy madness you see below.
I'm going to admit right now to a few things. Before you start dancing around preparing for fistycuffs. No, it's nothing dodgy. I just erm... ordered a chicken salad in a rib place last night and... had bottled water in KFC today. But in my defence i also ordered a four person sharer plate of chilli beef nachos at the rib place, and ate a LOT of KFC chicken.
I think that's about it for today. Will hopefully do another post tomorrow as we've got something interesting lined up in the day to actually talk about.
